True Worship
The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Galatians 5:22)
WHO’S YOUR GOD?
The god you worship is the god you serve.
The god you serve is the god you worship.
New Testament Worship
An hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. (John 4:20-24)
True Worship of the Father is in Spirit
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body. (1 Cor 6:19-20)
The mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so... (Rom 8:5-8)
Mindset
The Spirit of God Himself dwells in each Christian. To worship Him, the Christian must set his mind on His glorious image.
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things. (Phil 4:8)
Transformation
God’s plan from the beginning was to deliver us from the power of Satan and to save us from our sins.
As our mind dwells upon His perfect image that dwells within us, we are transformed into the same glorious image. As we truly worship our awesome God we are conformed to His perfect character.
Contrasted With Idol Worship
Satan’s modern idols take many forms: greed, lust, violence, immorality, power, Hollywood, sports, music, and political idols, to name but a few. People hold these images in their hearts and their bodies serve them.
For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. (Eph 5:1-6)
What images do you worship? The image your mind dwells upon is what your body will end up doing.
Become a Temple of the Holy Spirit
You turned to God from idols to serve a living and true God, and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, that is Jesus, who rescues us from the wrath to come. (1 Thess 1:9-10)
If indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. (Rom 8:9)
Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38)
